to get to it on boeing. phil, over to you. >> we've heard from the ntsb, expecting an update from them. they have at least an initial report regarding the fire investigation of that 77 dreamliner in boston yesterday. the ntsb saying that they have decided they are going to send two more investigators to look at the dreamliner in question and that at least initially taking a look at the fire in question they found severe fire damage to the battery of the auxiliary power unit. remember, the auxiliary power unit is what is used to provide power to an airplane when it is parked on the tarmac, not while it's in flight so the battery unit, severe fire kagge there, and it's pretty clear, scott and maria, that we are going to see more airlines, if they haven't already, they are going to start checking their wiring on the battery unit. i just spoke with the folks out of ana in japan. they have a number of dreamliners, checked theirs overnight at the urging of the ministry of transportation in j.i just talked with united airlines. it has checked the battery power wiring on all of its dreamliners

review of boeing's brand-new 787 dreamliner passenger jet. a news conference is also planned for later this morning. meanwhile, cbs 5 reporter anne makovec is at the san jose international airport where one of those plans will land this morning. >> reporter: good morning. these new reports certainly marring the celebration here at san jose's airport. the flight is set to leave from san jose headed straight to tokyo. this is a big debut flight. it's supposed to leave at 5 minutes before noon today. it is still on schedule. this is the first boeing 787 dreamliner aircraft to fly from the bay area. this model has been flying for over a year. around 4 a.m. today, the faa ordered a comprehensive review of critical systems in that model. this is video from a few hours ago in japan where one of the planes developed a cracked windshield. another one had a fuel leak. no passengers were injured. no serious consequences. but obviously, concerns. there was also a separate fuel leak and a fire reported on one of the aircrafts earlier this week. cbs av

. >>> a nightmare for boeing amid safety woes for the company's much anticipated dreamliner. nbc's ron mott has more from logan international airport in boston. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. double trouble for japan airlines and boeing over the past 48 hours here at logan as both companies investigate exactly what went wrong. two days in a row at boston's logan airport, a japan airline's jet has landed in the news. on tuesday, a new 787 full of passengers and already headed toward the runway had to turn back to the gate after pilots learned jet fuel, about 40 gallons, was spilling from the left tank on to the tarmac. monday, a different 787 parked at the gate following a flight emptied of passengers and crew began smoking. a fire down below that ntsb and boeing investigators have traced to the auxiliary power battery unit. >> it was a moderate fire condition in the modern avionics department that included the batteries and some of the electronic equipment. >> reporter: according to reports, one firefighter was injured battling monday's fire. boeing said of the fire, quote, nothing
